Vision

God’s redemptive plan centers on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the primary mode God established for spreading this Gospel is through the multiplication of local churches.

Churches are planted because God calls unique people to unique places, during unique moments in history, to plant unique local churches. Vintage Church is being planted because a unique group of people are burdened for the souls of the unchurched, de-churched, and uninterested in the rapidly growing area of North Phoenix. We believe that God has sovereignly called us to this area for such a time as this.

Our modern society moves and progresses quicker than ever, as advancements in technology and communication allow thoughts and ideas to travel at light speed. As our society has become more enlightened and progressive, Christianity, over the last 50 years, has gone from being viewed as positive to being viewed as neutral to being viewed negatively. As this shift has occurred, our society, including many churchgoers, have lost sight of the Christian Worldview and have been persuaded by ideologies that were founded on an atheistic and nihilistic worldview.

Families, friends, communities, governments, and churches are being ripped to shreds by this ideological war. No doubt, you have personally experienced this in your own life and social circles.

Unfortunately, over the last 25 years, 40 million people have walked away from the Christian church, a clear indication that the church has failed in its ability to respond appropriately to these trends.

However, the enemy always overplays his hand. Over the last 4-5 years, there has been a resurgence in the United States towards traditional and Biblical ideas. Some of the leading secular voices of our day that have massive followings, especially of Millennial and Gen-Z males, are promoting Biblical ideas as the most congruent way to view our world. However, these are not pastors or theologians; some do not even claim to be born-again. This has left a gap between what our culture is longing for and the knowledge of how to
get there.

It is interesting that while our society has more information than ever before at its fingertips, we have become more desperate for truth than ever before. This cultural moment is screaming for the church to step up and be the salt and light of the world. The world does not need gimmicky programs, flashy production, and mile-wide and inch-deep discipleship.

This cultural moment is screaming for something different but not new. It is screaming for something old but relevant. It is screaming for something fresh but rooted in truth. It is screaming for something VINTAGE.

This is why we are planting Vintage Church: vintage never goes out of style. We are a new church all in on the old thing, “the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).

We are a church rooted in the historic faith, doing ministry in our modern context. We believe that there is a kind of church that the glory and favor of God loves to rest upon. We believe that it is the same kind of church that the world needed at Pentecost and the same church our world needs today.

This is our hill worth dying on. And on this hill, we wave one flag, the hope of the world, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Will you take this hill with us?
